Our Firm's History

Double & Megson Solicitors was set up by Paul Double and John Megson in 1978 in the centre of both Bourne and Market Deeping and had expanded to include five partners (down to 2 now with the retirement of some of the partners) and a wealth of solicitors and secretarial staff. The firm has provided legal services to generations of clients who return for the breadth of knowledge and personal attention that is always available.

Shanta Shah, based in Market Deeping, and Richard Wood, based in Bourne, became partners in 2001.

A PERSONAL SERVICE
The law profession has changed greatly since Double and Megson began practising over 45 years ago, with smaller rural businesses tending to lose out to larger urban conglomerations. However, the firm believes its continuing success is down to the personal attention which it has provided over the years.

“The best advertisement is when we act for clients and then their children come to use us years later,” said Mrs Shah. “I’ve been here long enough for that to happen! We give individual service and that brings people back.”

“Also, the fact that in both Bourne and Market Deeping we’re in a small town which means that if we did something wrong word would soon get around. We have to keep on our mettle.”

THE COMMUNITY
Double & Megson are well-known for providing support to the community above and beyond the legal sphere and the firm is a significant contributor to local charitable causes. High on our list of priorities is actively supporting the local community. It is important that as the profession takes its living from the community it gives something back. We make donations to good causes and do pro bono work for local charitable organisations.

THE FUTURE
The future of the firm looks to be in good hands and the partners hope to serve the people of the two towns and the surrounding area for many years to come.
